Pointless is an all male A Cappella group from Point Loma Nazarene University started in 2003 by a few fine gentlemen who wanted to see an outlet for modern A Cappella music on the college campus where none yet existed. They debuted that same year with a performance at the annual Christmas Concert: Cider Celebration. Since then, Pointless has performed numerous times around campus for students in their dorms, incoming and potential students at college preview days and for faculty and staff dinners. Pointless performs frequently at many PLNU sponsored events around campus and around the greater San Diego area. In the spring of 2004 Pointless released its first CD, Just Feel It, alongside its first concert which sold out the 2000+ auditorium of Brown Chapel on campus to screaming fans. In the following years Pointless released two more CDs, Channel 2 (2005), featuring the groups staple songs, Footloose and Testify to Love, and Keep it Fresh (2006) featuring a list of 15 hot modern song arrangements.In 2008 the group joined the university Concert Choir in a ministry tour on the island of Oahu, Hawaii for a week and also recorded their third album, Wake Me Up. The following year marked the first of what would become an annual tour across California and its adjoining states with the Pointless: Live on the Five Winter Tour. On its winter tours Pointless has toured California, Arizona and Nevada. Pointless also won 2nd place and best choreography in the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella quarterfinals and performed in the ICCA semifinals that year. 2009 also marked the beginning of another great chapter in Pointless existence when they crossed the pond on their first international ministry tour. They toured the cities of London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Dublin, singing at churches, schools and on the streets of Europe. In 2010 Pointless released its latest CD, WILD and traveled to the island of Jamaica to work with A.C.E. at the Galena Breeze Hotel singing for the people, working and tutoring in schools and sharing the Gospel message. In 2011 Pointless crossed the Pacific to tour New Zealand in the cities of Auckland, Dargaville and Whangarei. Pointless had the pleasure of sharing the island cultures of the Maori and Samoan people and enjoying a good rugby match.The 2011-2012 school year will mark the 9th year of Pointless. Another Winter and Summer tour are being scheduled and there are plans of returning to ICCA and releasing a fifth album. Pointless will sing around PLNU and on the streets of downtown San Diego.
